Cool and interesting coin. I had to look it up though. My grading skills on those types of coins aren’t the best

Thanks, I thought the look was very unique, couldn’t pass it up and it looks even better in hand as the TV doesn’t show the luster.

Lovely coin. maybe you might be able to fill me in why do TPG services put the wrong country or not attribute it to countries that no longer exist. Germany was not formed until the late 1800s so would it not be more accurate to attribute the coin to Prussia or one of the dozens of germanic city states south who were part of the Rhine Confederation. Thx

Great questions for which I have no answers.

I bought it for what it is and not what's on the slab. I actually didn't pay much attention to what's on the label.

Personally, I cannot find a date on it anywhere. I think the "Germany Silver" might be a reference to German Silver or some pewter mix, but I need to research that a bit.

This is a Whist token and a fairly rare one at that. It was also designed by one of my favorite engravers, Loos. Personally, I bought it for the design.

Neat token!! I gotta ask tho, What are we looking at here? Did the bird drop a brick on the dogs head?

I think you can make sense of this if you rotate it a bit. It’s not a brick, it’s a nose! I gather it’s howling at the bird, so its mouth is wide open.

It's Aesop's fable about the fox and the crow. "list giebt den trick" translates to "cunning gives the trick". http://read.gov/aesop/027.html

I wonder if the date is on the rim? Cool token.

Thanks, I had it pictured like this and I knew that wasn't right, but my brain refused to see it the correct way. 20210629_111809.jpg

I thought that looked more like a fox tail than any dog tail. Thanks for the reference.

Is that a piece of cheese in the fox’s mouth, then? I thought it was meant to be a cheek, or maybe PMD!! But it makes sense if its mouth is wide open with a chunk if cheese in it.

The cheese is still in the crow's mouth. The fox appears to be flattering the crow with its mouth open waiting for the cheese.
