and I'm in Northern Maine, so when do you think we're going to get 'em? Would banks have BU rolls of 'em? I want a few for my collection. Then if I have any kids I could pass those few down to them before I die!
From what I have heard, we won't see any for at least three months. Some banks will surely get Unc rolls (boxes), but if I remember correct, they don't have a choice between new or recycled cents when they order in boxes, so it will be hit or miss on uncirculated coins just like any other year.
Fear not dear cent collectors, you can bet that the US Mint will be offering P&D Rolls for sale when they become available. They wouldn't pass up the opportunity to make $8.00 off the public ..it would be like shooting fist in a barrel. You can expect they will be packaged like the lincoln cent rolls of 2009 with fancy mint paper. Who would pass up the opportunity to sell $1.00 worth of copper coated zinc for $8.95 plus $5.95 S&H. They will laugh all the way to the bank as they fly off the shelves. What did PT Barum say about suckers?
You can fool some of the people all time you can fool all of the people some of the time but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time. -PT Barnum
I agree that they probably will offer these for the first year. However, nobody has to buy them, as they aren't exactly twisting our arms here. Guy~
You will have fifty years to get the shield reverse. I am expecting threads shortly about people hoarding memorial cents as the mint is not making them anymore.
You mean the limited edition, sold out, never to be released or minted again by law Memorial Lincoln Cents? I'm sure that they are going for at least $19.95 a roll on TV right now!
Here is the schedule that i have found from the usmint.gov website that can help you see up coming productions. Yea, those would be the ones!! Don't miss out, they were limited to about 500 billion pieces. :kewl: (maybe more, here is a link to the mintage figures here)
They most likely already are minting them. Typical Mint procedure is to begin striking the following years coins in December or even late November in order to have a stockpile ready for release in early January.
