@Lehigh96 being that PCGS has their highest grade as PF69dcam.
Would you say that this coin in an NGS would sell higher than A PCGS 69 or should it get crossed to PCGS for top dollar? Given that PCGS does cross it?

 

A TPG does not cross unless it can give a higher grade. Since this is the highest grade possible for this coin this suggestion may be deemed to be mute.

It can cross to PCGS as the same grade or higher. If they didn't cross it, Then they think that it does not meet their standards, which happens sometimes with high end coins.

 

That isn't true, coins will cross at the same grade, and you can request for it to cross at a lower grade.

 

I really have no idea, I don't collect Proof Jeffersons, just the business strikes. A quick glance at the NGC population report shows that the 1990-S isn't scarce in PF70 DCAM, there are 182 examples, so it is the DDO that is creating the rarity as there are only 2 in PF70 DCAM. If any of the PCGS Registry Sets include this variety and you can get it to cross, I would imagine that it would drive a nice premium to NGC.

 

I had thought so. There have been a couple 69dcam DDO's that have sold in the past five years. The PCGS went for almost double the price.

Is using the word moot as a stand alone response a sentence? I don't know.

 

I'm never muted unless I tell the TRUTH. Then what I say is muted (without sound) and becomes moot (without relevance.)

 

This coin is included in the PCGS registry sets (complete variety sets). I do not yet have one in my collection. Unless you were damn sure it would cross at 70, I don't think that I would send it.

 

Why? The downside is only the cost of the grading fee, and the upside is hundreds of dollars.

 

@Lehigh96 . If they crack it out of the NGC holder and give at PF69, would he then have to re-send to NGC to reholder if he wanted to keep the PF70? Not sure how that works

 

You used to have the risk that it would come back at a lower grade when you resubmitted it. I think I saw that all the TPGs now have a crossover service where they won't crack it out unless it will equal the other TPGs Grade unless requested to do so.

Of course, some will say they don't like raising the grade for fear they missed something, so cracking them out before submitting it returns the risk of a lower grade back to the submitter in hopes for a higher grade.

I'm not that good, but some here are.

 

They don't crack the coin unless, it meets your specific order. I think that @sham coin meets a 70 Dcam. I wouldn't cross it unless it meets PCGS's standard of PF70 Dcam. MAybe the OP can piggyback it with a next order. Or send it to CAC.

 

I don’t think CAC certifies Jefferson’s of this date.

 

Yeah I don't know, It just seems that cac goes along way when coins are sold.
