I found this in that roll it will spit out a few wheat Penny's. I have a bunch of these laying around got one in a 2x2 it is a very high grade but no I've got a bunch of them. But I have never had one that the date looks like this pretty much the hole front but the date is crazy how big the 9 is as big as I've ever seen one they may be something going on.
Even the word liberty is different looking than most of my 57 it just seem to stick out I figured you guys could tell me something about it.
It looks to have several minor die chips. One on the 7 in the date, another on the R in trust. What caught my eye is the R in trust. It appears to have a notch on the bottom of the back of the R. But that could be from the die chip. Actually, the whole motto IGWT is interesting. The W may be notched too. Full disclosure, I am not good at spotting doubled dies, but from what I can see your coin has possibilities. I could NOT match it anything on Variety Vista. so chances are slim, but worth a 2nd look in my opinion.
The motto sure is interesting, It lacks the die crack to be a later die state of DDO-001. There is though plenty of die deterioration to say that it could be just that. DDD Maybe someone wants to look thru, https://coppercoins.com/ http://doubleddie.com/287301.html
Those are classic signs of DDD. If you notice most of the perimeter device are doubled towards the rim.
I defer to your superior experience, I have the worst time with doubling. Thank you. My question is......I learned here on coin talk...that a true Doubled die will show notching, and that DDD is flat and shelf-like. I do see notches, and the doubling does not seem to be flat and shelf like. What am I missing? I realize this coin is pretty worn, so maybe I'm just seeing things that aren't really there or aren't what they appear to be. OR maybe I just misunderstood. I'm more confused then ever now. Interesting info about them being doubled toward the rim. I did not know that mattered.Thank You!
Like I said I have plenty of these 57 some very nice probably MS condition but what I'm getting at that this coin caught my eye as soon I seen it I'm a rookie at this kinda off stuff but I'm learning but there is something different about this coin it's not even close to like the rest I'm sure some body will detail it out for me I think you with all the die Chip you might be on something don't second guess you're self you know what you see just let it go this might be a hole new different errors that ant been found you never know it happens all the time but thanks everyone I think there is something there but I'm new I'm feeding off the other coins there is a difference I think the G in god looks different I'm like how ever said the hole IGWT looks different plus the date the 7 looks different to and I noticed the R in liberty don't look right I think this coin is a keeper.
I went to the site copper coins it matches up with one there is doubled die reverse on certain letters E p l u B s different things wrong with the left stalk has a gouge even the stem of the wheat stalks match up pretty much the hole IGWT the 7 on the date and on liberty most of it is messed up plus the R in liberty is messed up this is a true error coin all the way around both sides Man I told you I that I was having a good day found that really nice 1963 having a good evening I'm going to bed on that note but copper coins has this same coin I'm tickle to death I've been waiting on this for a long time they should have a good value on this 57 coin its got motiple things wrong with it I knew soon as I saw it thanks guys still like do some more research on it and break it all the way down
A doubled die is not an error, it is a variety with many, many coins struck until the die is retired. Your coin shows all the signs of a Deteriorated Die and is sufficiently worn to not achieve a high enough grade to give it the value you obviously hope it has. Research is important, knowing exactly what you have comes way before what potential value it might have. Even then, if you find a genuine variety or error, the condition of the coin then becomes important for it to compete in the market. Unfortunately, old doesn't always mean valuable. I know you are keen and hitting this searching hard, but you need to slow down and evaluate each coin as to what it is. Damage, circulation wear, worn die, variety or error etc. there are millions and millions more of the first three in this sentence than the second two. In your post above you stated that I'm tickle to death I've been waiting on this for a long time they should have a good value on this 57 coin its got motiple things wrong with it I knew soon as I saw it the problem is that if all the multiple things wrong with it are worthless or even damaging to the coin, where would any value come from. This post is not any criticism of you or your obvious enthusiasm, but more of a plea to you to research more and familiarise yourself with the various differences you will encounter before you get burnt out and start losing interest.
Don't be confused. usually whenever a lot of DDD is present on a coin you need to take extra time evaluating a coin. Add in a bunch of wear and tear and corrosion to the surfaces and the coin becomes a bear to attribute. This coin seems to have some doubling on it I just can't find exact markers to verify it. It has the possibility of being this one. 1957p1do006 Die Variety Information - coppercoins.com But there isn't enough evidence in the photos.
I'm just tickle that even found the coin I go through a lot of bank rolls. It just feels good to find something that actually makes some people even think about it besides a fast no you know what I mean. I know it is a long ways from being mint what so ever I know the grade on a coin means alot and I done know I was hit buy just looking at it I've got way looking better ones just not with the look of possible doubled die. I looked on copper coins varieties and I found one it was showing your markers and it had a lot of making on it that match so I did do some research on it thanks for some one sending me the site to get own. But it really match up with a lot of the markers even some doubling on the back the wheat stalks there is like a small die Chip at the tip the bottom of the stem on both sides are a little bit bigger than most this coin has the potential but it is a long ways from being perfect I done know that but I am happy to find it and was able to send it to you guys to get a look at it. It's not ever day for me to even be close to having a possible doubled die so it has been fun just going through the process with you guys thanks I am for sure going to hang on to it it is a nice off piece for me to put in my collection. I'm going to keep doing more research and find out for sure what I got I just wish it would have been in better shape it was fun anyway got my heart puping a little bit.
Aw, ain't that sweet. Thank you for the kind words, sir. I'm feeling like I'm an emotional support horse, now.
Much better answer. I’m kinda afraid to show some of my finds. But not that afraid. I’ve learned some
