I do not have her in hand yet but the price seemed good to me even know I have a handful of this year and mint mark.

It seems like your just grading it by the marks and hits look at the overall strike its pretty nice for the date itself.

MS 63+ couple longish hits keeps it from 64.
    Really clean cheek. Nice coin.

MS 64....luster looks off but I think that is the photo (it might even be pl/semi-pl)...there are some bigger marks/hits, like the one to the right of the Eagle's head but overall the fields and cheek look decent

64ish, not sure what might be going on around the eagle's head tho.

I’m at MS64. Nicely struck for a year where well struck coins can be found. Overall a nice piece.

MS 64. From those pictures, not PL. Well-struck for a poorly struck date.

We don't often do this my friend...but I'm going to disagree with you a little here. The 1884-O has a very wide range of strike quality but most references don't call this a "poorly struck date." Heck the VAM book even goes so far as to say "Full strike specimens are fairly easy to locate." (4th ed, page 262).

I don’t mind disagreeing at all. Just, from what I have seen, 1884o is, to me, an average strike date. It is far better than the notorious 1885o, which is a mushy date in general. I will agree with you in the sense that it is relative—84o is comparatively well struck in real life. This coin is a well-struck coin.

So I’m going to hold out judgement till in hand as the photos are bright but she is graded MS-61 PL . I got her on the cheap on heritage so pleased regardless

It will be interesting to see what it looks like in hand. The photos are pretty overexposed and that makes me wonder how many marks it is hiding.

I agree that’s what I was thinking . Being 61 I would think there would be a few big ones but maybe just a lot of small marks we will see . I mostly got it to see how a 61 looks on a proof like coin my other lowest graded ms proof likes are 63 and on those marks are distracting
