About forty years ago I found this on the street in Vienna, Austria. I just put it away somewhere and forgot about it. However, my wife recently found it and we are now wondering what it is. I contacted the Holocaust museum in Washington, but they couldn't id it. Does anyone know what this is?
old north africa coins with 6 pointed stars look like that. Supposed to be for good luck. I also recall a very early Middle eastern piece that looked similar. Coin of not, it is nice.
Agreed, reverse would be nice. Similar to a Moroccan Felus. These have the star surrounded by a reeded design, but yours is completely worn flat around the circumference. But, a possibility.
My best bet is it is a coin of the Nazi era issued to the Jewish ghettos: http://www.saskatooncoinclub.ca/articles/50_nazi_occupation_coins.html#lodz Another possibility is a Nazi prozionist coin from the early 1930s: https://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic.php?t=216198
Ummm. That's a Swastika in the middle of the coin. Definitely not from Morocco. UFO Cult symbol? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raëlism
It appears added, and would not make any sense at all for the Third Reich to use such a hodgepodge of symbolism that defies the intent, especially considering the fanaticism the Nazi regime was known for. I will stick with this being a modified good luck piece.
