I don't know what it is about this coin its color is different the letters are different just a total all around different coin. This coin is in top shape you can tell it's not been in cirlation any just buy the look of it.

Nice coin. Makes a change to see the tops of the drum support all showing. Normally it is quite weak there because of all the metal movement needed to create the bust on the obverse. Unless it is an impaired proof, the rims look pretty square in some parts. What do others think?

It looks like a normal circulated coin to me.

    To me is looks like:
    A slightly MAD coin, also
    Well circulated,
    With an extremely high mintage,
That I can buy for $3.00 in BU
And I would personally spend this one.

This coin does appear to have seen some circulation. When this coin was made, more than 800 million were struck in each of the Philly and Denver mintmarks. Because of the different design, they were hoarded in huge numbers only to be eventually released into circulation.

If you like it, keep it Bentley. It is a common coin with only face value, the decision to save it or spend it is solely yours, good luck.

Not a top coin...circulation evident/worse than many/most that I've seen of this bi-centennial year/variety, if still not bad. Since so many were hoarded for years before eventually letting them go, they tend to appear in better condition than other Washingtons.

Only the San Fran mint produced these in silver, I believe for both proof and mint sets. But the lack of an S mintmark pretty much guarantees this is just an "intended for circulation" coin that has toned a bit.

On the reverse inside rim at about the 4 o'clock position, I see something that resembles a reed, but its not on the edge, it seems to be a bit on the inside. Is that anything special, or just an illusion effect from the camera?

I've got dozens of these quarters. A few of them have been in circulation for a little time and look pretty good, but most of them look like they were in a parking lot.

Thanks guys for all the apply it just looked a little different than the other bunch load I got. I save these old coins for some reason I just like the build they have done to it that is all for real.

The reverse is one of my favorite coin designs.
