they can't touch them in china and won't go after ebay even though they are the main reason these coins are coming into the country, keep calling the attorney general, FTC and ANA to demand some action against ebay to better enforce the laws!!

 

Try proving that is is the same person and not his wife, son, neighbor, etc. is impossible for the ordinary person.

 

Like you said they can't touch them in China and going after eBay is difficult because eBay is not breaking any laws. And demand action against eBay to enforce the laws? When did eBay become a law enforcement agnecy?

why not just let them sell drugs then?? counterfeit coins and illegal drugs are both in violation of US laws so you think the DEA would let ebay off if they were the middle man in drug transactions?? ebay is allowint this to happen and not doing enough to stop it, any ideas?? maybe ban all coins sells coming from china to start, since 99% of them are fakes, any con coming into this country as a fake must be marked if not the seller should be BANNED FOR LIFE, ALSO EBAY NEEDS TO DO BETTER IN MAKEING SURE THEY DON'T JUST KEEP OPENING UNDER DIFFERENT NAMES, THEY HAVE WAYS OF WATCHING FOR THIS!! WE HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY TO GO AFTER THESE SCUM BUT EBAY IS DOING THE BARE MINNIUM. LETS FACE IT EBAY MAKES A TON OF MONEY THEY NEED TO DO MORE NO EXCUSES

 

There is an eBay group called Coin Forgery eBay (CFe) that does a pretty good job of policing the numismatic listings. Nearly 1,000 members strong, they monitor as many suspect auctions as they can, and have a reporting system in place to alert eBay to auctions that are selling unmarked counterfeit coins. My personal feeling is that they are a little heavy handed in some cases; however, they've made a major contribution in the fight against this problem. Ebay would have alot more of these bogus coin listings if not for the efforts of this group. Read through their threads sometime.. you'll be amazed at what is going on.

I do have a friend who is involved in that group. I'm guessing it is a private thing, that eBay's coin department selects members to do so. I wonder how and why they pick the members they do.

 

Go to eBay, upper right click "community", then "groups", then "collectors clubs"... find and click "coins" (this will bring up all 36 ebay coin groups)... scroll down and find "Coin Forgery eBay"... you will get the welcome screen with this message:

Welcome to Coin Forgery eBay
This group is to discuss forgeries and alterations of coins. To assist the eBay community in the suppression of fraud, knowingly and unknowingly, in coin, paper money (currency) and bullion listings by the exposure of fakes, alterations and other criminal and deceptive activities, or ones suspected to be shilled, stolen property or hijacked content from the rightful owner(s).

Since the group is now private, you will have to fill out your reason for wanting to join and then click "send".

Actually T$ the group only went private about 6 months ago. To join you may follow the link above and fill out a request, or be invited to join by an existing member (there are a few CT members that are also CFe members). Anyone can start an eBay group, the groups are not affiliated with eBay in any way (other than the fact you must be registered with eBay to start or join a group). In fact, CFe has been scolded a few times by eBay for their tactics.
