1996 P Washington Quarter-Spitting Eagle Error

Hi guys,

I have this 1996 P Washington Quarter with a spitting eagle error on the reverse and a die crack on the lower right side of the rim running thru the "O" in dollar. Is this considered a die clash? I would also like to know how often are spitting eagle errors found on quarters?

Nice Die Crack.
Clashes aren't rare.. I've seen plenty of them.

 

The real 'spitting Eagle' is a die crack -
your coin is the result of a die clash in that area.

 

Oh.. I didn't know there was a difference.

What would the Spitting Horse be considered?

 

I agree with paddyman, die crack. I also noticed the coin looks to have been gold plated at one time. Both obverse and reverse, look closely, I may be wrong. Just my opinion.

As Fred mentioned, that's a clash coming off of the Eagles beak ...

 

There is also clashes on the obverse .
Let's see if anybody can spot them ...

 

Think I see one in front of his adam's apple and also at the forehead

 

Guess you could call it the Drooling eagles. Spit goes further. Jim

 

Those are the easier ones to spot .
There's some between the pigtail, and his neck .

Sorry to jump onto this post but I am brand new and I don’t see the option for posting new - and I haven’t gotten any confirmation emails. I do have a question though - and the pics here are what I am finding in my coins. I am seeing a lot of dates, numbers, monograms on every coin I check. Many seem “hidden” or are so light it is hard to see. Others stand out. Are coins recycled? From the old ones?What are the images I am seeing in the coins? Definitely not dirt or nicks as I can see them in all of the coins posted on this site as well. Like I said, brand new to all of this and driving myself crazy trying to figure out what images I am seeing. For an example, I have a 1983 D quarter where I am certain I am seeing images of small flowers, especially around the edge. And a lot of numbers, all sizes. While looking up the coin online, someone had posted theirs as well - and it had the EXACT same monograms/errors or whatever you want to call them. Can someone explain this to me? Thank you so much!

Eagles bed kid not a die crack which is what causes the spitting. You have a die clash there and a decent die crack at 5 o’clock so congratulations. Looks like a couple of clashes on the obverse as well.

 

no. I’ve just noticed them on mine and now can spot them on others.

 

I did edit the colors just to so the things I’m already seeing pop more on the photo. One is circled to show where I am seeing this to reference the other. Maybe this is something totally common and I’m over here driving myself nuts. Thanks
