We all have that one coin in our collections that we hold above the rest. Often it is not the most valuable nor is it the rarest. But, it's special.

For those of you who are willing, please share your favorite coin.

    Here is mine.

This is a 1908-D 25 pfennig pattern from Germany. This coin was minted in copper and was one of the proposed design for the (then) new 25pf denomination coin. The 25pf would be very short lived.

This coin is categorized as a Schaaf 18/G30. I love the design of this coin. It has wonderful detail and a fantastic intricate design. It also has beautiful toning which isn't totally evident in the photos (the photo's don't really show how lovely the toning is in hand).

This was the first German Pattern that I ever purchased and it sparked my love for this little niche of the hobby...which is one of the reasons I love it so much. It is graded PR65RB by PCGS.

This is one of my favorites. Aside from the two I have posted in the past couple of months, I love this coin, as a result of its combination of brilliant obverse, and green toned reverse. PCGS MS 65

That's awesome. It would be amazing to find an old large cent like that.

That's fantastic. I'll bet the colors on the reverse are magnificent...far better than the photos show.

I couldn't possibly pick an absolute favorite, but this one is near the top for sure.

My favorite coin to look at is this Japanese 1000 Yen. It is toning along the streaks of the improper annealing. Apologies for the over-cropped reverse

It's hard to pick just one, but if I absolutely had to (like, if forced to sell all my collection except for one coin), it would have to be this: Roman Republic, silver denarius of Julius Caesar, struck January-February 44 BC (he was assassinated in March that year):

    Gorgeous Obverse!
Great Britain really had some amazing workmanship in the coins back then.

    Ditto.

If it has to be a coin, one of these will have to do.

If we include medals, that complicates the choice.

I guess it would be a toss up between these two. I love the woody toning on the 1853 5 centimes, and the design and condition of the 1887 double florin really appeals to me.
