Was going through my 30’s nickels and noticed this one. Could this be the 1939 DDR ? If so I’ll be pretty excited! Don’t know how I missed it before. May be my first genuine error coin!

Sure looks like it to me! I’d wait for other opinions but definitely looks like DDR. Congrats!

Thanks for tagging Paddyman Kentucky. Going to tag

@Kevin Mader too. Although after some more research I'm 99% sure it is the real deal! I can't believe I've had this coin for solong and never noticed. I pulled out my 30's nickels to post my 38's in another thread and decided to take another look at my 39's since I had them out and thats when I noticed this coin! LOL

Great find. But you need to label it as a variety not an error

Second "o" in Monticello looks pretty doubled up, to me.

Look at the last O in Monticello.

That is the easiest PUP for me.

    And Congrats to the OP

Yes, definitely the big 1939 DDR. Congratulations!

I always enjoy finding one of these, no matter what grade. My brain looks at the LL of MONTICELLO and thinks, "Ooh, double hockey sticks!" I enjoy that it's strong enough that you can see it without a loupe. Plenty of separation in the letters.
