Who here hates the new Ebay payout deal?

I do. Instead of automatically getting paid through PayPal when I sell something Ebay dispurses the money minus fees and it could take up to 3 business days or more to get my money.

I haven't listed since they started that and forced me into it. I suppose I could get used to it......but I liked the immediate payment through paypal best. I liked having control of my funds and where I wanted them.

After 15 years selling on eBay, I closed my store in February . . . No Regrets here.

I closed my eBay store and stopped selling there when they started trying to force me into 180 day return windows and when eBay and PayPal stopped refunding fees when a return was filed. That, after literally hearing PayPal customer service admit over the phone that they automatically side with a buyer in the event of a dispute - no matter what the facts of the case are.

Both. Both have admitted to me that, if a customer files any sort of dispute, no matter what the actual details are, they will decide the case in favor of the buyer. They don’t even look at materials submitted by the seller.

As soon as I heard them say that, I closed my store.

I had a case where the buyer was obviously abusing the SNAD (significantly not as described, for those who aren’t familiar) to get around my stated “no returns” policy. I sent them exactly what was shown in the auction, they changed their mind, filed a case, and then I responded to the case to eBay. Almost instantaneously, it was decided in their favor. I called support and was told:

“Why don’t you just accept the return?”
“Why don’t you just provide better customer service.”

Yes, blaming me - anyone that knows me here knows I try to take the best/most accurate photos I can, am always happy to provide additional photos, and am always willing to discuss an item before someone makes a purchase.

I used to have a two week return window, but then they changed their policy to keep their fees when someone made a return. Maybe larger sellers can afford to absorb that cost, but I cannot - especially when buyers are not honest about the reason they are returning something (because they know eBay will side with them.)

I asked them if they had even looked at the details of the case, and they said they don’t look at it, they just automatically side with the buyer because it’s better for their business model to do so. I was so shocked they would openly admit this that I had to take a moment to decide what to do.

I asked to transfer to someone to close my store account, and I have never listed anything there since.

I am happy to be reasonable, but that was way past my comfort zone.

EDIT: I wanted to add that it used to be possible to speak with someone at a supervisory level (if you could wade through the endless supply of drones telling you to just give up and accept your fate.) You could then ask this supervisory type person to actually look at the details of the case - and if they agreed with your side of the case, they would overturn the "decision" back to your favor. I also wanted to add that eBay forced me to purchase multiple shipping labels for that return (because the person returned more than one item) instead of grouping them all together. Just stole the money right out of my account.

I also wanted to add that I am not perfect, and on a couple occasions (over the course of about 20 years) I have made mistakes, sending people the wrong coins. When I discover what I've done (either through my own double-checking or when the customer lets me know) I take care of it immediately - refunds, pay for shipping, replace, etc. I didn't want people to think I'm making myself out to be an innocent saint.

I don't like the new payout system, but that isn't #1 on my "dislike list" of the new eBay.

I have no problem with the new system. Getting paid automatically is nice.

I switched from using Paypal to pay for items on eBay, to using a credit card. How does that affect everyones receiving payment?

Not getting your fees back is really annoying. I've had several cases in recent months where someone purchased an item and then immediately requested to cancel the order. I agreed to cancel because if I don't they could just try to return it later, but I'm out those fees even though I didn't do anything.

Here's something else buyers do. They buy ten items separately, pay separately, which means there's a separate payment fee for each item, and then expect me to refund most of the shipping cost, even though now I'm paying way more fees than I would if they bought all the coins together.

Also, someone can open an item not received case (half the time they're just trying to ask a question, but if they do it wrong then a case is opened) and then you have six business days for the item to arrive or give them a refund. And eBay will keep bugging you about it. I have a case right now where a buyer opened a case to ask me where the package was because the package was not scanned in by USPS for two weeks. It finally has been scanned in and estimated delivery is Friday, but today is the end of the six days so if the buyer decides to escalate the case then I'm sure I will lose even though the item is moving in the USPS system. It's the fact that everything is just automated and you can't appeal to reason that makes it bad. Sellers are expected to bend over backwards for the customer when the majority of the time it's not something the seller is responsible for. The post office provides terrible service and we're held responsible. I sent a bunch of items on June 3 and most of them haven't shown up in the system. I don't know what happened that day but I'm bracing for a wave of cases opened against me any time now.

It doesn't make a difference. As a seller I have no idea how people are paying. I just get a payment either way.

I just bought some coins over ebay with PayPal and I got a message from them that my purchases would not be made until the seller gave some info to them. Does this have anything with ebay's Payout system? By the way, the seller sent my purchase before PayPal took my money to pay the seller.

I have been selling on eBay since 1998 and I have experience all of the payment changes. Do I like the changes? No, but there is nothing you (as a seller) can do other than stop selling or adjust.

It does bug me that eBay expects the seller to ship the immediately, but I will not actually receive the money from that sale for 3-5 days. A couple of weeks ago I sold 12 different items and eBay put a "hold" on my payout which was scheduled to be $870. When I contacted eBay to determine which one of the 12 items sold was causing the "hold" eBay directed me to their policy which basically allows them to place a hold the payout without any explanation given.

Ebay has always been geared toward buyers satisfaction rather than sellers needs. I doubt things will ever get better for sellers and as I mentioned you either adjust or cease selling on eBay.

I am planning on stopping all of my activity on Ebay as both a seller and as a buyer. I have acted as both for years and have 100% positive feedback, but it's just becoming too expensive (the new fees really eat into profits, especially on smaller transactions) and too cumbersome to make it enjoyable or fruitful.

This would be a good time for a solid competitor to sweep in and take up a chunk of their market share. Does anyone else use any other auction sites?

I am a buyer, never a seller. Makes me feel a bit safer. Sorry to hear some of you closed your store, I totally understand why though. Thanks for sharing, best of luck to all.

I'm sure there are plenty of other instances one can recount, but this is the first time I've dealt with an entity that will suffocate with its own hands around its neck.

The customer is always right . . . with one exception.

The customer is wrong when it decides to stick with a bad vendor.

I use Webstore for buying. Not a lot of selection though.

I use Ebay for buying and selling so I can see both sides. I have had a few bad experiences as a buyer but overall its been good. I also had a buyer pull **** on me as well and Ebay sided with him. I blocked him because of it
