IDK though, what do ou guys think? is it a modern fake? a medal? Anyone know anything about it?

Either way, I paid $10...and IDK if that is what it is worth, but at nothing else, I like it.

Interesting piece. Squeezing so much text into so relatively little space sure requires a lot of experience or talent, or both.

Here is some more info about that medal. If you can read the text on the piece, you will be able to read this too. :) http://www.hmb.ch/ServiceBroker?PAGEID=2000

If not, the text says this is a religious medal, by Philipp Heinrich Müller, from Augsburg, Bavaria, made around 1700. The three scenes depicted are the creation of Eve, the Crucifixion and Pentecost, with puttos in between.

The medal was sold as a baptism or confirmation gift. Müller was, according to the info text, also famous for his perfect edge inscriptions. (Guess that would apply to bigger medals.)

That is a fascinating piece if for nothing else, the microscopic legend on it. That was an incredible skill for the time, over 300 years ago.

Does anyone know German, BTW...the edge reads:

WIE DIE VATTER, ALSO WIR GLAVBEN VND BEKENN KIER

As the text on the reverse, this is not exactly modern standard German. ;) Today "Vatter" would be "Väter" for example; and the "kier" I am not sure about. Maybe "hier"?

    That would result in ...
"As the fathers, so do we believe and confess here"
