I never realized this before, but I guess it's common for Franklin half dollars? The liberty bell on the reverse doesn't always line up vertically with Franklin's bust on the obverse. Some appear a little left of vertical, a more clockwise turn. This 1963D is just one of my examples. I don't understand the reason behind it. I'm new at this.
We refer to these as a "rotated die." The dies just weren't line up when they assaulted the planchet.
Ben is leaning a little bit left (not political) That would throw the bell a little bit more to the right (again not political)
Please correct me if I am wrong, but slight rotated dies don't carry very much (if at all) of a premium, right?
