They look real to me...really blown out terrible photos lacking any contrast. Really cleaned possibly too. There is a lot you're not seeing because of those terrible images...I'd pay little more than melt I think. You could contact the seller and ask the seller to verify if they are authentic...if you buy them and they are not authentic than returning them or just getting your money back will be no problem. Leave a trail...
Really hard to tell. Seller has a lot of them in various auctions. All 24 hours. I'm by far NOT an expert so I'll pass. They may be real, after all they are from an estate! No negative feedback but 5 positive in the last year. With a bunch of 24 hour auctions on top of each other by the time a negative review shows up it's too late for a lot of buyers. Thanks for the replies.
The estates around here take the coins to a local specialist, that specialist buys what he can sell. If an estate is selling them, you need to post a question in the faq's if there were any other coins. Estates take the quickest money possible if a reputable dealer saw these coins and they were legit. He would have bought them.
Right now I could buy better than these that are graded for the same price. Meaning graded and guaranteed genuine. Friggin e-bay. I'll still buy used used Craftsman and Snap-On tools. Those are hard to fake! For now....
Not everyone has access to a local coin dealer, particularly a "reputable" one. In our area they are more likely to sell in tag sales or auctions.
The way things are with silver dollars these days, you can't trust anything. The Chinese are probably approaching the survival rate for the real ones, given the number they have counterfeited. They look real, but cleaned. The next question is, are those the pieces you will get?
To me the 24 hour auctions are the tell. Why would someone not want to get the best price they could by running them for a week? They know ebay won't be able to get these taken down in a day.
I guess because of the city things could be much different than a rural area. It is rare that you will find coins at estate sales around here. They are usually sold to either a dealer, or the many collectors that are able to buy big hoards, and collections.
