I went back and forth between AU 58 and MS 63 but something pushed me towards AU 58 (I believe I see a hint of wear, although it could be the photo playing tricks on me...hence it was difficult to decide)

First glance it looks MS-x, but there appears to be a little rub/ wear on the side of the head and on the buffalo's hind quarter. I'm going to guess AU-58, though it's probably ms65 knowing what you collect

Buffaloes are a pain in the rear to grade.

I think I see a rub on the buffalos horn. I’m going to say AU58.

Yep; and the rear is where some of the wear may or may not be...:p

I did some reading on that date/mint mark. It is an average to below average strike. Philadelphia strikes were hammered, but s mint examples were so-so. Dunno if that helps.

I think this could be MS65. Was much more confident in my guess before I scrolled and saw everybody else's responses :) HA!

I'm on 63 also, but a higher grade would not surprise me.

Pretty standard, and no surprises with this coin. As I had posted, it is definitely a weak strike. Picture is accurate, and I think it is a pretty coin. Just not hammered, so it looks like the rear end of the Buffalo did not get the full benefit of the die.
