Dansco Album for Christmas Most of my relatives know that I like coins and coin supplies for Christmas, birthdays, anniversary's, or just for the heck of it. Sometimes you don't get what you want but of course it is the thought that counts. I received an early Christmas present this year from some relatives that will be gone over the holiday and although I like the gift it left my scratching my head a little. This Dansco album has one page for the District of Columbia P and D quarters and the U.S. Territorial P and D quarters. The relatives also gave me the 8 quarters to fill the 8 holes on the page plus a P and D set of 2009 uncirculated coins. My question is what would you use the second page for and any additional pages that could be added? I could add the S proof coins, I could add the silver coins, I could add more sets of the 2009 quarters. How would you finish this book?
Sit tight.. Our Government will probably find some more territories to fill the rest of the book up for ya. Maybe, Korea, Cuba, Japan, Bermuda and Stanton Island. Who knows..
The US leased the Corn Islands for a while (Google them; not many people knew they were under our control until about 10-20 years ago). We had a significant presence in the Ryukyu Islands for quite a while after WWII. How about Shanghai, China. We even issued stamps for use there (regular US stamps overprinted SHANGHAI; I can post them if you are interested). And what about the Canal Zone. I'm sure there's more I've forgotten or don't even know about.
I would get the clad and silver proofs of each issue and fill the rest of the holes. That would be a complete collection of the US Territories issue. I think it is pretty cool, and the 2009 silver proof and clad proof coins can be purchased at a reasonable price (for now).
That is what I was leaning towards doing. Its cheaper than you think. I already own 5 silver proof sets and three clad proof sets. You're right though, the 12 holes left on the second page would be perfect for the 6 silver and 6 clad proofs.
