So I just read an article on my feed about a woman who spent 16 hours and used $77 worth of pennies to floor her bathroom, which I gotta admit it's kinda cool but she didn't check any of them first... :banghead::banghead::banghead:

When someone asked her about it on social media and told her of the potential value of rare and error pennies she responded with...

"Since posting the video to TikTok I learned I may have made a very big mistake by not checking the pennies prior to permanently adhering them to my floor. I had no idea a penny could be so valuable and there are at least eight wheat pennies, upside down, so we are unable to check the year."

Live and learn I guess

Hmmm. I wonder how many of those are Zincolns and how long it will take for them to start rotting in a bathrooms humid environment. Even if they have been sealed.

Knowing the Zincolns the epoxy resin is probably rotting them now, lol

I wouldn't be concerned about valuable coins used to resurface her floor. The chances any are worth much is negligible.

@Robert Ransom I know chances are slim to none, but it would drive me insane not knowing, lol.

Might be wise to lay a Non-PVC Plex Glass sealed over the top, just my opinion. Eventually over time as the room settles it won't work either, oh well... Good luck.

Wonder if she started from the outside and worked toward the center or vice-versa. There must have been a problem attaching the last few cents without an over-lap.

I have seen other such stuff. A dealer in downtown Atlanta, GA a long time ago. He [Roy Pain] had a posted picture of an Indian's head on plywood that was about 6 foot by about 5 foot and all of the cents used were of American Indian Head cents and was in his store's front window.

A friend of mine in Jacksonville, Fl. had an older pickup that had a original wood bed in it and he did the whole bed. It was awesome. All the cents were new and then he used resin to seal it. He used a router to counter sink the coins. Took a few months off and on.

I know a guy named Roy Payne. He moved here maybe 10-15 years ago from Georgia to take up a management position at one the production plants. I don't know what he did in Georgia I just know he owned a shop in Atlanta of some kind. I wonder if it's the same guy.

  19. That’ll look real nice in 5 years when the settling shows and the epoxy shatters like glass…plus pretty ballsy move considering it’s a federal felony to deface/destroy U.S. currency (I’ve always been led to believe anyways). I don’t have the statute # or anything but…..

    Baseboards would cover that issue.
3M spray adhesive on the floor, spread out the cents, cover floor with clear acrylic 1/8" over the top and buff when dry.
