This thread is a year old... I just misread the title. they said it was 0.38 grams off

 

I support the acid theory. Acid etches copper in all three dimensions, so it's thinner, diameter is reduced. But! the details tend to be quite good as the acid solution dissolves from all sides. Jim

The 1948 S coin looks off colored. Is there reason for this

 

I have this 1941 S looks very bright gold
