Now I wonder if your coin was the host for the BM coin—these pictures look much better, IMO, and I wonder if they have changed Curtis’ opinion. The original photo did have a cast look but I no longer see it.

    Thank you, Nick.
The original photo was certainly my poor photographic skill.

I agree that Pete's coin looks more convincing in the second photo, which brings up the possibility that it might be the original from which the BM specimen was cast.

Now personal inspection might be key! Pete, will you be coming to the ANA show in Chicago this August?

    Hi Curtis:
    Sadly, no.
Respectfully, I don't know what personal inspection can show that cannot be seen in the huge photos I posted.
Actually, the actual photos I made are MUCH larger than the "large-size" allowed by CT. I can send them via email. Along with the 360° video, which, to me, is quite convincing. Naturally ;)

Well, I figured out how to make available the large shots of the coin, its edge shots, AND the Meta Sudans video!
Pardon my old shaky hand in the video!

This has been an interesting thread, about an interesting coin. It is indeed a very attractive coin.

I have a question that doesn't appear to have been asked in the thread and is only cursorily answered on the website for this coin: What detail do you know about the coin's provenance?

I think this is an important question for two reasons: (1) although it has been evaluated as authentic by two British experts, they do not guarantee authenticity to any potential purchaser, and (2) while it's valuable for you personally to "... unconditionally guarantee the coin to be genuine" it's not clear how long that guarantee will be usable to any potential purchaser. Please understand that no insult is intended by this observation, just that it's a very rare and expensive coin.

There is no provenance. I wrote “purchased in the Mediteranian area over 50 years ago.” And, respectfully, that’s all I care to say about it.
Thousands of expensive coins without provenance are sold by the largest and most trustworthy firms every year.
I and my estate would provide the guarantee to a buyer that has done his “homework” before buying. You need not know of my plans to carry on my business after my “departure.” :)

Please note in the pictures that Ricardo123 shows, the the base of the spire on the BM example is much wider than the base of my spire! So??? Comment??

I don’t believe it actually is any wider—I think just an optical illusion from the state of the second coin.
