I was having a thought today, ya know staring off at the horizon, singing the B-I-N-G-O song and clapping along, I like to call it "me time", and I was thinking about the marketing gimmick of some geniuses that turned trash into treasure, with cancelled US mint "waffled coins". Well I had a thought to try to build a cheap type set of waffled coins. see what I could do how many denoms I could get, and do it on the cheap.

take my poll, leave a comment, have a happy friday and a great weekend!

Don't leave out bacon...every poll needs bacon...or chicken (I heard it goes well with waffles)

Go for it! Sounds like a fun type set and even better if it can be done affordably!

I just checked ebay, and around the internet, as far as I can tell a waffled cent doesn't exist, and most listing aren't cheap, assuming I'd want struck waffles with design on them though for a type set and not blanks.

there's not a lot to choose from out there, especially not in the cheap department. seems to have stopped with state quarters also. I didn't see any cancelled parks. earliest I saw so far is 2003, newest I saw was 2014 half dollar...

I got time,,,, time I got. there's always time for waffles.

found this interesting item on ebay while digging around, don't nobody snipe me! hahaha

I say it would be odd and fun.

I hear it's a great combo, but I've never had it, and it just doesn't appeal to me (chicken and waffles that it).

Absolutely chicken and waffles are good and pair nicely, you should try it but I recommend using syrup, (not that real maple stuff, good of fashioned maple flavored corn, like grandma used to make) ketchup and Tabasco, then it's on point!

Funny story about the first (and technically only) time I've had it: going into it, I always imagined chicken and waffles meant there would be chicken chunks inside the waffle. Boy was I surprised when that wasn't it! :p (It was still tasty and I enjoyed the meal).

I’d like to have just one waffles coin but I’ve been too busy buying other coins. I find them fascinating.

keep an eye on ebay, it's a very small section and not a lot of offerings, but something may pop up from time to time that nobody notices on an auction with a low starting bid, instead of BIN and at a good deal.

I forgot about them totally until today, it was kinda hot in the early to mid 2000s for a little bit and fell off. I am starting to think the mint stopped selling them to the scrappers that in turn marketed them around 2008 or so because they dried up and disappeared mostly from view. maybe it was the recession....

I just had another idea, Maybe build a PCGS or NGC waffled coin registry set! hahaha
