Sorry for the flurry of posts - I've been going through a few rolls of wheat pennies and finding fascinating (if badly damaged) coins. The good news is I'm on my last roll, so probably fewer wheat penny posts for a while. :)

Speaking of badly damaged, I found a 1946S that seems to have ghosting on it, but the poor thing's been through hell, so I can't discount something else having happened to it.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks for any opinions!

Found another 46S with this same issue in the roll. I guess we can assume it's a die error at this point. :) Or, well, variety I suppose.

PIDT isn't really a die error, it's a die wear/deterioration issue from the use of the dies. it's more of a die stage identifier than it is a error or variety.

Hmm, ok. Seems reasonable. Oh well, I got the coins in a flip. Good future reference material. :)

Inverted protruding outline of the obverse on the reverse. I like it.
