    Here's my:
    Hadrian, AR Quinarius; Rome
    OBV: Laureate bust r., bare shoulder and chest, slight drapery on l. shoulder;
    IMP CAESAR TRAIAN HADRIANVS AVG
    REV: Victory advancing l. holding wreath and palm branch; P M TR P COS III
    1.26gm., RIC 11 106V, Cohen 1130b; 117-138AD; Struck 119-135AD

    HADRIAN AR QUINARIUS RIC II 106V $300.png

    I think I would grade this coin as UNC.

    Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this coin is a fake. :( Here are a couple of matches from Forum's fake coin reports: example 1 example 2

    I'm sorry. :oops: Normally I would pm someone about something like this, if there was any doubt, but in this case it was cut-and-dried and could be helpful to others... so I went ahead and posted. Hopefully these two links link 1 link 2 will work for you, but just in case here are screenshots of the two pages:

    The style is clearly wrong on these coins too, compare to these genuine examples.

    I paid way too much for this, my only Hadrian quinarius (1.4g), in 1991. If I were to offer it for sale today, it would get no bids. I do wonder what was taken into consideration when quinarii were issued. Was this a special purpose coin? Hadrian denarii and sestertii are several times more easily found than quinarii but Hadrian has more quinarii than any of the rulers of the Imperial period.

    I purchased this coin from a reputable dealer for $30-$35 about 12 years ago. I count this as a learning experience. As always the folks on this forum have a wealth of knowledge. Thank you Dougsmit.

    A 'reputable' dealer would refund it even after 12 years. Also, I have trouble thinking of a reputable dealer in ancients who would not spot that one from ten paces. Perhaps they were reputable but did not deal in ancient coins.
