These are first shots at a nice early die state coin.
Further photos of EPU will be provided when I have a little time.
This is why I spend Cash.

Whoa. I think that's the first shield-cent clash I've ever noticed, never mind that it's spectacularly noticeable...

That looks like a pretty nice die clash to me.

I don't understand an Early Die State with clashes like those. And I am stumped by the EPU acronym.

A clash can happen at any time during the process when there is no planchet in the collar, and the parts of the E Pluribus Unum that are visible on the obverse along with one part of the vertical bars of the shield behind Lincoln's neck are impressive. Great clash

I get very curious when I see nice crashes on the obverse, but nothing on the reverse .

Maybe there was a reverse die change, prior to this coin getting struck?

One would think with a clash this strong something would of show up on the reverse .

I will highlight what I think is evidence on the reverse. and more details on the obverse this weekend.

There is more evidence of the clash and a slight tilt to the coin shows it. The early die state means that there isn't any evidence that the dies were polished to try and remove it.

Damn! Now I have to retrace my steps in the parking lots & sidewalks where I normally store any zincolns, to see if I missed one!:jawdrop::p:joyful::rolleyes:

Or, I'll just wait until some else finds it & posts it on CT...:joyful::joyful::joyful:

Right, lol. 90% of die clashes I've seen are like "meh, if you say so..." but this one jumps out at you.

I should have time in the morning to show some better shots. I haven't even had more than a couple looks thru the loupe.

The clash is hard to see on the reverse. But it is there, If you look closely at UNUM for instance. there are some small raised areas. These marks are from the bow tie and what is going thu UM is the date. Also you can't see them in the photos. They are very minor is some evidence of hair and Jacket.

For me, they're apparently down in the pareidolia fuzz. I think it would take an explicit overlay, some highlighting, and maybe some animated A/B swapping for me to see them with confidence.

They are very hard to see.
You can look here. Mine does have the reverse die rotated clockwise a little. You can get a basic idea.

Oh, look @Danomite shared the same link. I had the image posted but they are much better on Maddieclashes.
