something not quite right going on with the half dollars I’m getting from my bank. I posted last week about the. 2 boxes I got that were all customer wrapped rolls. I was relieved to see that the rolls I got today were machine rolls (4 rolls on bottom layer were customer rolled) Anyway as I started to go through them,I noticed that they all have slits in them that have been taped over, like someone was edge checking. What’s up here?
Yep. Edge checking. Just looking for silver and returning them. Don't waste your time searching them if you are looking for silver.
I like halves but don't have the budget to buy boxes of them. I usually get two or three rolls at a time. I don't really care if they've been searched already. I keep the JFK's I don't have (which aren't many) and spend the rest. Many times I'll put a few in the church collection box. That way they keep circulating. But still, I'd try another bank. Have you tried looking for the "No FG" varieties?
I’ve searched Half the box and pulled about $7 worth of NIFC’s and a couple other nice coins. I think I’ll just dump the other rolls and try to find a new bank to order for me. Did find this neat “Medio Balboa” have never seen one. I look for the no fg when I think of it. Never found one.
What year is the Panama coin? It could be 90% Silver. The U.S. minted all of Panama's coins for many years. More info on Panama coins. They are a fun series to collect. Check out the "Panama Pill" coin. One of the smallest in the world. It's cost is usually way higher than it's melt value. panamas-monetary-system
What a shame. I like collecting Panama silver issues. I have quite a few, including several Balboas and several Panama Pills, and virtually everything in between.
Your bank is simply giving you what's on their shelf. What's on their shelf is something someone else searched through.
I don't think so. These are sealed boxes, and she orders them and I pick them up the next day, If she had them on hand when I asked to order them, she would give them to me.
