I just got the same email. Something went wrong for the dealers, apparently.

Certainly not the first website meltdown I've experienced at the Mint, but I'm pretty sure this is the first release postponement I've seen as a result. Heck, I'm not sure I've ever even gotten an apology in the past.

I do wonder what's different this time.

In all fairness the silver demand lately has been insane.

I think the Mint has a limit on how much they can pay per oz and if the private market is paying higher I don’t think dealers would sell to the Mint for less.

No elaboration on when they will be available for sale??

I actually made plans for the summer expecting to be able to go online on the two days they'd be for sale. Call me crazy but I've wanted these two coins for years now. I hope the postponement isn't on a day I can't be online :(

Not just dealer. Things went bad for everyone.

I was getting really annoyed that every time I entered my address & credit card info and clicked “submit” it would crash.

But I also got lucky that in the end I was able to buy one of each.

I knew they would sell for more than the Mint charged but I would’ve felt like a huge jerk buying 10 or 20 of them when some people didn’t even get 1.

That’s just me though. I’m sure others did exactly that and have no qualms.

Nope. The end just says they will email me when the date is determined.

Apparently you don't know what underhanded tactics that dealers are capable of using......like having every one of their employees placing orders for the boss.

That’s fine though. I wouldn’t call it “underhanded”.

In the end it all comes down to luck of the draw and who can get through the server and place an order without it crashing.

1 solo dealer getting through and placing an order for 1,000 is no different than 100 employees of dealers getting through and each placing an order for 10.

Besides normal non-dealers can ask family & friends to help just like a dealer can ask employees.

Like Jeff said, nothing different for us little guys this time. Maybe the big dealers don't like to have to tie up the credit line for 4 months on 10s of thousands of dollars without having the inventory in hand.

That comes with a big risk too.

Imagine buying 10,000 of them for $85,000 and things go bad with lower demand than expected and Ebay selling them for $60.

Like how you can buy a 2019 proof set on EBay for less than the US Mint charges.

Not only does the dealer lose $25,000 but they also have to go through the effort of selling all of them.

I’m surprised they’re selling so high with a 175,000 mintage for each one.

The V75 Eagle had less than half that mintage (75,000) and is selling for about the same $225-$250.

And how do they legitimately claim first strike or early release? Waiting 4 months from pre-order date to get the coins at the same time as everyone else really shines a light on that (some say worthless) designation...

Actually they can mint as much as they want of them that was just a starting point.

My guess is they have to send them in the moment they arrive.

However even so it doesn’t matter since that only proves they got graded immediately.

The boxes of coins themselves have no date of minting. The only date they have is the year they were minted.

It would be cool though if they numbered each coin. Like 1 of 175,900. I bet the first one would nab a huge premium!

    They probably won’t though.

Otherwise there wouldn’t be any problem with supply and the Mint wouldn’t have said unfortunately not everyone will get one.

Just curious was anyone else only charged for shipping but not the coins?

I’m guessing the coins will be charged for when they ship?

I ordered 2 for $85 each + $4.95 slow shipping and my card only got charged the $4.95 instead of the full $174.95.

Nahhh. They don't care about the website at all. They just realized the trouble they are gonna have with the credit cards in October when it's time to charge everyone and a lot of them don't go through, they don't need the other releases going like that. This is their way of saying "screw the pre-order thing, it's not gonna work out and make folks even madder so let's stop that here and just wait for the other releases to be more ready so it won't be 4 months of sitting on people's credit cards."

Why fix it now? Preferred bulk purchasers and cloudflare were the answers to reducing traffic and increasing stability, captcha was the answe to bots, and according to them doing those things reduced it from 300K to 40k traffic. They even did a media release patting themselves on the back for the genius moves. Now it still fails and crashes.

They are trying to chase the individual customers away....

I know a dealer who has a network of buyers who place orders whenever the mint sells a sure-shot, hot item. These buyers include some of his regular customers. They receive a nice cut, which can amount to several hundred dollars, for placing orders in their names. He pays for all of the coins. This obviously allows him to get around the order limits.
