Hey everyone, I’ve just written a numismatics-related paper and am considering options for publication. It seems that self-publishing would definitely be the easiest, fastest option, but I thought I’d ask if anyone has experience with publishing articles/essays to the American Journal of Numismatics (AJN) or other journals?

It's my understanding that when attempting to submit an article for printing or publishing to a newspaper, magazine or journal type of publication, you should first research that publication to determine their requirements and or methods for submittal. Then follow their recommendations.

    Good Luck.

You are correct, and I agree. I have already done my part and researched AJN and their requirements, but thought I’d ask the community if anyone who’s actually gone through the process and published would be willing to share their experiences.

I've never done it with them but I can tell you that's a tough one to get into for unknown and or new authors. But there's certainly no harm in trying.

The same thing goes for the primary coin magazines and they rarely accept unsolicited articles. And even if they do, they schedule everything months in advance.

When starting out you'll have better luck with the online only publications like CoinWeek.
