Does anyone have Krzyzanowska's catalog of Antioch in Pisidia? I've tried AC search, Wildwinds, and Asia Minor coins (which seems to be down for the past few weeks). I can't find an exact match for this provincial bronze. It has Domna's earlier obverse legend, JVLIA DOMNA AVG and the reverse legend is shorter and differently arranged than similar types. Does anybody have ANY references at all to this coin? Julia Domna, AD 193-217. Roman provincial Æ 21.5 mm, 4.86 g, 6 h. Pisidia, Antioch, c. AD 193-196. Obv: IVLIA DO-MNA AVG, bare-headed and draped bust, right. Rev: [three-letters, ligate?] AИTIO ... IA COL•, female figure (Genius of the colony?), standing left, holding branch and cornucopiae. Refs: Not in BMC xix or Mionnet suppl. 7.
The closest coin in K that I could find would be K Av IX RV 20 Reverse legend starting at 12 O'clock FORTVNA COL ANTIOCH. Kryzyzanowska's reference is still the best one out there however with her Severan Group A coins there are a number of gaps.
AN TIOCHFO RTVNACOLONIAE --- ex Frank Robinson 1987. Two things to remember about Latin: 1. Word order does not always follow the rules of English or High School Latin. 2. Grammar and abbreviations on coins was pretty much a matter of what fit and the whims of the die cutter. I'm at the stage of the hobby that I am disposing of books rather than adding them. I have never seen Kryzyzanowska.
