Ooops. I had my US Mint order screen confused with my CC screen. I only have a pending charge for the shipping cost.
I saw they would ship in June. Unfortunately, we won't know what actually look like until we get them.
It would be smart too. They probably realized they would see a lot of cancellations if they left it in October
My confirmation e-mail came in at 5:30 pm CST. I highly doubt any will be shipping in June. Why would they say October then back track that much? I'm guessing somebody had to fill out a date field and they just entered in the end of the order window or something and the auto response is wrong. Would it really surprise anyone?
The current credit card amount is just an Authorization to make sure you have enough credit to pay, and to let the CC company know to remove that from your available credit. I believe those hold for 7 days on average. Technically most CC companies don't allow the merchant to Settle (actually charge) the credit card until they 'ship' it. However, often times 'ship' means that they've created a shipping label for you and can take however long they want to actually put the merchandise in the mail. Likely we'll see the amount actually pulled from our credit cards within the next week and a USPS tracking code created. Then we wait for them to decide to ship.
As in Rick Tomaska? He games the system buy having 100's of contacts buy the coins and paying them a premium. He contributed to the coin grading services by getting the cameo designation recognized. To bad he is not a greedy - Edited - with modern coins.
i surprisingly got a new orleans one.i wanted a cc also but was unable to grab one.i just checked ebay and the auctions for both have bids over 200.00 a piece!
Wait a few years, and it will be a lot less. The mintage is supposed to be 175,000 for each of them. If the full limit is sold, that's a lot of $85 + coins for the public to consume. For the people who do roll and pocketbook searching, $85 is more than they are often willing to spend. You can buy a "real" Morgan Dollar, that is over 100 years old, in Mint State for less.
I would not say these are not real Morgans. They were produced by the U.S. MINT. You can say they are not original Morgans. There has been a lot of talk about how they are pure silver instead of 90%. I do not think that is such a bad thing. These Morgans will not have bag marks. All of these Morgans will be in Mint State.
There is no Morgan with CC or O that wasn't not produced in those respective mints. Privy mark == gimik. But my all means, spend your allocated money on these so I have a better chance to get a P/D or P Peace.
I just read in "Coin World" that the mint is thinking about makings these new Morgan Dollars an annual issue. If they are able to add them as an "official" part of the Morgan Dollar, set, they will have lots of collectors that will buy them. It remains to be seen if collectors will be that gullible. Rather than part of the set, I view these coins as "hangers on."
