I bought a 1923 Peace Dollar and a 1898 O Morgan this morning at a coin show. I've always wanted these just to have in my collection, but most of the local dealers charged way to much for them. I found these at a table where the dealer was clearing some stuff out. They cost me about $17 U.S. each. How'd I do?

For $17 each you didn't do bad, that's about what they go for. The Peace dollar is harshly cleaned, but the Morgan is a nice problem free example.

Yep raider is right! You didn't do too bad, the peace has been cleaned, but the Morgan appears to be a nice looking AU

Actually thats the value of an ounce of silver. These have less than an ounce, and a melt value of around $13.22

Still, 17 is not a bad price.

I noticed the Peace dollar was cleaned. It was the best example I could find for the price. The others he had were either very worn or priced a lot higher. I thought it was decent enough at the price just to have an example of a Peace dollar.

    Thanks for the comments.

This is more of a bullion buy IMO when you talk about a deal. In other words, these coins have very little numismatic value. You bought a harshly cleaned Peace Dollar for $17. For 3X that amount, you could buy an MS64 common date Peace Dollar graded by PCGS or NGC. Here is an example.

On a happier note, your photography skills are absolutely outstanding. Very impressive.

This Morgan also has a couple of die cracks:
