Here is a dual dated 40% silver quarter. The third and last edition to my 7070 Dansco for the Bicentennial issues. She’s a beauty. A few marks on the check but that’s about it.

No, just filled in as normal. It’s more like a blob than an S. Lol

I like it because the drum is full, I dislike it because on the S mintmark ones all the drums should be full. The best part of type set building is everyone build it their way! It's a nice example to put there.

Thanks Pam. The S mint mark is a blob from wear and only a little chatter on Washington’s cheek, otherwise it’s a nice one and it’s 40% silver, which is called a silver clad.

Just so you know, there are some coins (specific dates) that have a blob S and a clear S. Susan B Anthony Dollars come to my mind.

Good question. There are no 90% silver’s however there are 40% silver’s, which is what mine is. These are referred to as silver clad. And they also had a copper clad. Three coins were made with copper clad or silver clad.

The bicentennial coinage consisted of a quarter and a half dollar and the Eisenhower dollar. The Eisenhower dollar in the copper nickel has a variety one and a variety two.

With the Eisenhower dollar there is in silver clad in variety 2 and only one has ever been found. Hope this answers your question.

Thanks and it was on the inexpensive side as well. It now resides in my 7070 album.

Can I ask something? On a D blob? Does that more or less is considered just a blob? Or a good thing?

The Susan B. Anthony Dollars were minted with a blob mint mark, so were a few others. The majority of the the blobs are from circulation wear and tear.
