This has been in my Whitman for 55 years ( actually it is better protected now) When I was 12 my father gave me a blue folder and his jug of LWC's and told me to go trough the pennies and pick out the best for the folder. This was the only 1922 in the lot. If there was one with a strong D it would have filled the slot so I was compromised by having to use the "worn" example. Fate treated me quite kindly!
That is exactly what it is. No D wasn't a thing when I was young and it is now easily graded at VF+. It is best graded by the rev. as the obv. is so weak from the excessive die polishing.
