Hello everyone, I did a 7 hour Metal Detecting hunt at Brooklyn's Prospect Park.. The temperature was in the 90's! 2 Bottles of Large Frozen Gatorade drinks got me through it! 1 - 1936 Winged Liberty Head Dime 1 - 1946 Silver Roosevelt Silvers #48 & #49 for 2021 2 - Corroded Indian Head Cents (Will Clean) 1 - Corroded V-Nickel (Will Clean) Everything.. Tons of Quarters and Dimes Misc Items - 2 NYC Subway Tokens. Different Eras -
Extremely hot. It's dangerous being out that long with no liquids. But I've learned over the years how to avoid dehydration. I use plenty of sunblock and I wear a long sleeve fishing shirt with UV protection material.
Nice haul! I'm curious as to what you do with all the coins you find that are only worth FV (if that)...? You've got almost $16 FV in this lot alone, will the bank let you deposit them in that condition? Clean them up and then deposit them? Or do you just keep ALL your MD finds?
I can clean the dirt off the coins but the clad and nickels will remain looking dark no matter what I do.. Every 6 months I visit the Coinstar machine. I'm due for a trip in June! This is all the Clad, Dollars and Nickels. No Cents.. I have about $40.00 in detected coins at another location to add to these!
That answers my question! Been wanting to get a metal detector for some time but never pulled the trigger, I think you might have just sent me over the edge lol
I will try. I have to give them a good soaking in distilled water or Hydrogen Peroxide. Maybe in a few days I will see the dates.
I will tell you what it is. It's a woman's makeup sharpener. They usually have 2 different sizes. Here is an example made by Lancome I'm soaking today's sharpener in vinegar overnight to see if it cleans up
Probably anybody that uses it for a makeup sharpener now better have their tetanus shot up to date...
