Every once in a why I just pull a coin out of circulation because it seems to have a grat strike or limited wear. Check this Dime out. This is an easy MS68 grade I pulled out of circulation this morning.
I do the same, but normally only for coins older than the year 2000. Everything else is just too easy to find really nice examples of in circulation, in my experience at least.
There are probably exceptions, but, I can't understand how a coin found in circulation can be graded MS. Doesn't MS imply Uncirculated?
Happens all the time. It's a grade not a state of what happened. If it still looks like its from the mint then it's still ms. We often forget coins are metal, they don't instantly get wear just because they came from a cash register.
I save a lot of the good condition like that pretty Dime you have. Also the pennies but only because of the grandkids can still see them shiny down the road. And you know as I look through coins and I find one or many in the 70s 80s etc but think about it, those are already 40 and 50 years old. Not old to us but to them it will. Hope that makes sense. So while other coins are getting abused in full circulation, they can maybe have some great shaped coins and hopefully appreciate it.
He’s right. It’s a nice looking coin but it’s not an MS68. It’s certainly not an “easy 68.” But it does look MS to me.
the truth is it looks better than a 68.. it has clean fields, no rim damger or stratched, and it is an exceptional strike.
not that useful at all. And honestly, I don't care about the 'Truth'. I am here to discuss coins. If this is all you can retort, it is a dead end conversation, and not educational, or entertaining.
A coin graded MS-68 has a beautiful sharp strike and full original luster for the date and mint, with no more than four light scattered contact marks or flaws. No hairlines or scuff marks show on the surface of the coin. It has exceptional eye appeal. If copper, the coin is lustrous and has original color. It is acceptable for silver coins to have attractive toning. Contact Marks: 3 or 4 minuscule. None in prime focal areas. Hairlines: None visible. Luster: Attractive. Fully original. Eye Appeal: Exceptional. Also Known As: Mint State 68, MS68, Choice Gem Uncirculated, Superb Gem Uncirculated, Superb Gem Brilliant Uncirculated, CH GEM BU, CH GEM UNC, Superb GEM BU
