Your Favorite Modern Commemorative Coin

I was just wondering what are some of your favorite modern commemorative coins.


I will start, mine is the 2008 Bald Eagle Silver Dollar

My favorite?

Maybe the 2006 $5 Commemorative Gold Coin,the 1999 George Washington $5 Gold Coin, and the Oregon Trail Series Commemoratives.

Do I own any of those? Nope!

 

My favorite without a doubt is the Civil War Battlefield commem.



The only one I own is the GW

 

The 1988 Olympic 5 dollar gold is my hands down favorite.

I can't say I know much about most commemoratives, but the eagle on the Washington above is probably one of my favorite representations of the bird on any coin.

 

My favorite is the 2001 Buffalo Silver Dollar commemorative.

 

I think my favorite eagle design is from the 1984 Olympics. The following photo is not my coin.

 

That is one of the nicer eagles, but IMHO it's hard to beat the 2008 Bald Eagle Silver Dollar.

I have several:
The 1982 George Washington 50c silver, The Constitution (eagle OB + eagle feather Rev is very cool) $5 gold, The Madison 50 c silver, The Jackie Robinson $5 gold, Jamestown $1 silver, Wright brothers 50c and $1, Ben Franklin $1s.

 

How about the Olympic eagle in color. Can't believe I didn't buy this coin when I had the chance.

Now that is an amazing coin.

I like the USSR coin.. But the U.S. ones Beat them hands down

After doing some searching and looking through the various modern commemoratives, one really jumps out at me: the 1987 Constitution Bicentennial $5 gold. I guess I just have a thing for stylized birds.

And holy cow, Lehigh, I imagine anyone would be kicking themselves if they passed it over as well. That's gorgeous.

Not quite the "modern" genre.....

 

Me being from California, a 49er fan and growing up near the Marshall Gold Discovery site, I'm a little biased I suppose for the 1925 California Diamond Jubilee 50 cent piece.

I agree it's a amazing coin. It's among my favorites of all time, but I believe commemoratives from 1982 until today are considered "modern" as that's when the resumed making them (having stopped in the 1950s).

 

In moderns I like the buffalo and I really do like the Lincoln this year. It's a good thing I like the Lincoln, only commem I own.
