I put in a pre-order for this book on Amazon... apparently releasing June 10, 2021. I really love this series. This is the fourth book in the series... previous include: -The Athenian Empire: Using Coins as Sources -The Hellenistic World: Using Coins as Sources -From Caesar to Augustus (c. 49 BC–AD 14): Using Coins as Sources These are only around 200 pages or so.. they do not claim to be reference works in any way. However these really fit exactly into my way of collecting.. learning the history and discussing the coins that told the story as only coins can. I am sure many of you have at least one volume from this series... so this is just a heads up on the newest edition. The books are inexpensive at under $30... a very nice value in my opinion.
I pre-ordered a copy months ago, as soon as I learned of it. The publication date has been put off a couple of times, but I believe it's now supposed to come out in June. As some of you know, Prof. Yarrow is very closely involved with the Roman Republican Die Project (online at CRRO), and posted here a couple of times about it.
Over the last few days on Twitter I have seen a few posts from people "on the inside" showing actual physical copies of the book.. so I am optimistic on the June release date.
It's already available in UK, so that's maybe how insiders been getting it. They been getting it on Amazon . I know the author well and looked at pre pub drafts. Excellent book. Highly recommended https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/110765470X/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_ZMA9RCPMGTBPZKQFBR4M £17.43
I was exchanging emails with Prof. Yarrow today about the Aeneas vs. Catanaean brothers issue, and she mentioned to me that the shipping date for the USA has now been put off again to July 15. She has been told that the Suez Canal incident supposedly has something to do with the continuing delays. As far as ordering from the UK is concerned, Amazon.co.uk is out of stock right now. So I ordered a copy from Blackwell's in the UK. Even if it takes weeks to get here, it should still arrive earlier than my US pre-order -- which I've now canceled -- would have arrived.
I agree. While I'd love to dive right into this book, I have more than enough others that this one is just going to have to wait its turn. Will probably get it at some point, though.
Just ordered. It will take a longer time to Italy than to the US and it’s more expensive too, but I’ve read a lot from prof. Yarrow and I’m sure the book is worth it.
Just ordered my copy from Blackwells. @Clavdivs and @DonnaML Thanks for calling my attention to this.
I already had the Hellenistic one and found it excellent and enjoyable. So, I just ordered two from Amazon, the Republican one and "From Caesar to Augustus". Thanks for the suggestions. If they are anywhere near as good as the Hellenistic one, I'll be very pleased.
