Hi everyone it’s been awhile I found this and I have no idea if the person realizes how valuable it is.. Sadly...I was too late to purchase. The chances of actually finding this coin are astronomical!!! @paddyman98
For those of us who don't collect World Coins, would you mind explaining why one of these is so valuable and which one it is?
I don't see the necessary 'dot' on the cent. Sorry. https://www.pcgs.com/news/rare-canadian-1936-dot-cent
Between not wearing my glasses enough and frequently being undercaffeinated I have general rule...no buying/bidding before 10 am And only if the caffeine problem at least has been rectified. Speaking of which, time for my second cup.
They were made in secret by the Mint and given/sold to one person. They were never in circulation and all that have been found are from one person/estate so the chance of ever finding one are nil or worse.
Well, we had a mighty drum rattle...but no rim shot. Still a very informative thread, and kudos to @Mr. Flute for the link to the PCGS article. However, I have a question about the article. The author, Joshua Hernandez, also has done tons of work for the funtimesguide.com, and is generally very accurate and comprehensive with his subjects. In this article for PCGS, he mentions John Jay, and then drops a “Pittman’s death” reference with no previous mention...who is this Pittman guy? In the meantime, I’ll be doing some research and checking my ‘36 Canadian cents...(not holding my breath)... @Bill in Burl ...jmho...Spark
Here's an old article. The only dot cents ever found seemingly went out of the Mint's back door: https://nationalpost.com/news/rare-...0000/wcm/f0486c3c-402b-4f7c-94b8-6ad54f570260
I have a damaged 1936 canada ten cent in my collection and I keep it just in case I'm seeing a 'dot' as opposed to the more likely just weird toning in that area of the coin.
