Surprisingly I couldn’t find anything from Google to answer that question. Now I’m not talking about gluing coins together, but gluing together a holder containing some. Any thoughts or am I about to ruin some coins haha?
Don't think it will be a problem as long as you take the coins out o the holder first... I usually just use clear tape for repairing my folders but I've never tried hot glue.
It's good to get a tight air seal for the coin to prevent it from being exposed to gases that could possibly hurt the condition of the coin. But I personally just use staples for 2x2s
I think it is something about using glue to close a paperboard 2x2 instead of staples. It seems overly frugal to me.
Sorry for the confusion. This is a proof set that’s broken and won’t stay closed I’m trying to seal. I’m only curious if the glue will release gases that can tarnish the coins contained inside. I would never do this unless I had to and my only other option is to move them all to individual holders and ditch the OGP.
This ^^ While you might repair it with a careful application of a very small amount of glue (not hot), you're better off going with something like this...
These are very nice and seem like a great alternative. Modern proof stets need more holes though! Oh well! Hot glue it is. Thanks for all the feedback guys
