Got a Sealed box of half’s today from my bank. I was disappointed to see that inside the box were customer wrapped rolls. The top layer was one design of wrapper and the bottom layer was a different design. The top layer rolls were each marked with a red marker. Bottom wasn’t. I knew then I was screwed. I did manage to find a 1977 impaired proof and a 1971 gold toned Kennedy. 48 rolls going back to the bank tomorrow (different branch) and will order another box for Thursday. How does one get a sealed box of customer rolled coins?
True Dat! the last 30 rolls I just edge searched and rewrapped in their wrappers. The 77 proof is the year I graduated from High School, so I'll hang onto it. But I know I already have it. I have every Kennedy proof except the 64 "enhanced hair" one.
Same for the halves,I get boxes of CWR'S of cents and nickels from time to time but half dollars?surprising.
Get them from time to time,I guess just because its taped and looks new doesn't mean the rolls are sometimes.
I KNOW! I never even considered it could happen. I hope it doesn't happen again! I get boxes of CWR'S of cents and nickels from time to time but half dollars?surprising. @potty dollar 1878 are they Loomis sealed boxes? or just stuff the bank put together?
You didn't get screwed. You got just what you ordered. Next time, be sure to specify "90% silver ONLY!"
You know it's not the end of the world to get customer wrapped rolls of halves like this. Not every collector or searcher looks for or keeps the same thing. And a lot of people don't think, know or care to keep a look out for 1965-1970 halves. Or later silver proof halves. In circa 2006 I bought two boxes of halves from a bank that were brought in by a customer in the same kind of wrappers as shown on here. I didn't find any silver but I did find a good amount of very nice uncirculated 1984-D halves mixed in throughout the two boxes. Enough to make a few solid rolls. I was content and happy, and in retrospect thankful they weren't hit with a marker.
I will usually buy any customer rolled halves turned into the bank, and sometimes I do find something I like for my collection, HOWEVER, these were sealed coin boxes from whatever courier my bank gets coins from, which was just odd. even odder was the fact that the rolls were marked with marker which indicates having been searched to me. The the tellers tell me that they are not allowed to send out rolled coins with the couriers, that they must be bagged, so if they get $1000 in halves rolled by a customer, they have to open them and bag them for the courier to take. So I can't figure out how this happened. Anyway, trying to decide if I wan to order another box tomorrow.
