More than it’s cracked up to be...

    Found this 1897 6 pence. When I examined the reverse I saw the surface is suffering from many cracks. Looks like a dried mudbank or my grandmother’s cheeks.

    Looks like it was in the ground for a while,so some kind of environmental reaction caused the cracks?cool coin otherwise.

    It's environmental damage. The coin was exposed to something that etched the metal.

    Soak it in acetone, see if it dissolve's! It's not Alke-Seltzer, duh
