I hope you're having a great day thanks for your assistance I'm looking at a 1884 Carson City Morgan dollar with some die cracks and it is being auctioned right now. Does that Rim make it ungradable? Details? Any thoughts on value or grade? Bid is probably about 250 by now

On any other Morgan that would not straight grade IMO, but I've seen CC's get a little leeway when it comes to grading...
Not sure if it would be enough leeway to get it to a straight grade, there's others here who have MUCH more experience with Morgans than I do :) I would wait for their opinions.

I would pass on this one. There are literally thousands of 84-CC Morgans out there.

Only buy it at a good discount. I don't think it would grade, and is not nice enough to be worth a premium. Far more uncs. of this date/mm than circs.

It might come back "filed rims" on the holder. The 1884-CC is common Carson City date. There are plenty of others available.
