    There's a reason this and the 1968-S are notorious for this strike doubling but it escapes me at the moment. But just know it, they are, and there's a reason for it.

    1968 was the first year for the San Francisco mint to produce cents since 1954.

    They redid the master hub dies between 1968 and 1969 for the Lincoln cent. You can see it on these pictures. Polish_20210121_214830110~2.jpg

    Not sure what that would have to do with the MD on the OP coin but easy to see the improvements made.

    I've always had a soft spot for S mint LM's. Probably have 100 rolls sorted by date.
