I posted one in a much lower grade at one time. I just picked this up last month. It’s a solid XF and maybe on a good day a lower BU. You can see the point on the 3 where the 2 sticks out. I got the best photos I could but they still need improvement. This nickel should qualify for the FS designation.
Very nice. This is listed as DDO-003 and DDR-002 in stage B. I think I can see the separation in the Y of LIBERTY but I can’t see anything on the reverse. The pictures are too blurry when I enlarge them.
It’s very difficult to get photos of this. My other one is much easier to see but if you look at the 3, on the bottom left, you can see it pointing up to the center of the 3. Refer to your red book and it stands out.
Thanks Pam. I saw your reply in the other thread. You can get these fairly cheap in G or VG but they do cost more in this condition.
Thank you. I have so much to look through. No telling what I may find. I would not know how but I remember you saying you did not have a Sacagawea. No I’m not selling, ( before it’s assumed lol) I would mail you one. I have many. Just an offer. With no stains of course lol. And I can send to a store or something by the way that you deal with. Lol! If not that’s ok but welcome to it.
I think this coin is pretty obviously a 43/2-P. The pitfall with this variety is the die spike mimic, but your coin points to the inner curve of three whereas the die spike points at the middle point of the 3. Your photos are a little blurry, which makes it hard to see the base of the 2 inside the lower curvature of the 3 (see photo below), but as long as that is there, I'd say you have nothing to worry about. Regarding the full step designation, as you probably know, the coin needs to be mint state for the TPGs to recognize it.
Just a note to the newbies: there is a 1943 with a die gouge in the same general area. Be sure of what you have in hand.
The inside of the 3 is very reflective so hopefully this will be more to everyone’s liking. I finally got a decent photo of the over date.
@SensibleSal66 You were the first to reply so I hope this helps to clear things up for you. Just scroll up to see my latest photo. It clearly shows.
Sal said he was undecided so this photo should make it clear that it’s the over date. See the hook on the inside of the 3 on the bottom. That’s classic for the 3/2. This is a higher grade. I also have a low grade one that very clear. Inexpensive too.
Yes and sometimes it’s hard to get the good pic. Sometimes you just snap a few times in a row and you can catch one.
You can still see the shine coming off the inside of the lower 3. I had to get several inches further away than I normal do.
