Race Bannon was a character on Jonny Quest, a cartoon from the 60's and one of my favorites as a child! Loved that show and I love this V.D.B. wheat penny too!
For no reason at all, here’s a Lincoln picked pretty much at random. I saw one this morning, in Red, listed for 1400. They look a lot alike, but I am still happy with this one for $62.
I feel as if the seller's pic may have been juiced so overall, not too thrilled as I wanted clearly defined wheat lines. Truth be told, I will likely upgrade, but here is the first of 3 new recent cent purchases:
Think I saw that one on Ebay. I’ve caught the Lincoln bug as of late. Looking for nice 20s coins with mint mark, and it’s a challenge since most of them rarely come nice. Cherrypick-by-grade is a bit easier on them though - I managed to get what I think is an MS BN 25-S for $9 (posted in the under $50 thread and it’s not that mushy of a strike either). Here’s my 26-S, which cost me 3 whole cents. Circulated but with a wonderful strike for 26-S:
Other two came today. Much happier with these as they show improved wheat lines (even if my poor photography skills do not show it).
These are my oldest Wheats so far...although I have a 1929, but the date is very faint and it doesn't photograph well.
I will preface this by saying, I am extremely nervous with toned copper coins. I feel like it is a beast I will never be comfortable with. Still, I needed a '25 P and found this one on Ebay for cheap. Pictures were not the best and I suspected good luster so I gambled. Last picture is best view I could gain of the reverse toning.
