I have an IPhone and it did an update last week. I read the usual stuff, update offers new memes, yadda, yadda…. Stuff I hold in very high regard (not)…. And it also says improvements to my camera….. I didn’t think much about it until I was taking a photo of one of my PCGS slabs just now. I got a little window on my camera that asked me if I wanted to view the item on PCGS….. Cool! Well, yes by golly I do….. I clicked it and immediately I was directed to the PCGS certification page for that coin….. So anyway, I am suitably impressed. This may very well be old hat to you folks that get along with technology. But if you are like me, do the update and take a photo of your slab and see if you don’t get an option to see the PCGS certification.
IMO, the neatest function of the Iphone camera is the Slo-mo video. Just use it like regular video and then click edit and you can slide the bars around to slow down, expand, or condense any part of the video to catch something fast, extremely slowed down for that block between the bars, then back to full speed once progress moves past the second bar. I find it very handy and you can nab really cool screen shots from the slo-mo too. Sounds like a good update. Will have to check it out.
Yep, also- it’s the same as QR Code tech. So if you see a flyer that says “scan this QR code to visit our website and redeem your coupon for two of the best tacos imaginable!”, or for example something at the bottom of a printout from the doctor that says “Scan this QR code to download the MyChart app” - open your camera app and do the same thing.
I've noticed some things only come with a laminated card with a QR code on it and no instructions now. You want to register the product or learn more about, you use a scanner app on the phone and it takes you right to the the website just like CircCam said, using the phones camera to scan it. I don't even go to the bank to cash checks anymore. My banks app has an option at the bottom to photograph/scan in your check front and back and then you just enter in amount and click deposit and it's in your account within in an hour while sitting in a recliner. Then just destroy the check.
It’s all good Randy, I didn’t know it until last year when we had to develop promotional materials and the marketing guys explained. I felt the same way as I’d seen those everywhere but they never seem to spell out that all-important step of using your phones camera app to scan a random square barcode.
Always nice surprises from Apple! Most are too late and are played out as being the latest and greates (most android platforms have already done what apple does in some regards) and then they surprise you! Glad you like the update! I'm an apple guy through and through just for the ease of use and compatability with all of my other gadgets.
