I'm pretty sure the reverse has machine doubling, but is this coin also showing it was struck by a misaligned die? If it was, would you say this is a narrow or wide rim? Many thanks for your help! .
I wondered if a misaligned die would affect that, but now realize the date would still have the same spacing to the rim. Took my old mind a minute!
Yes the date wouldn't shift up or down on the misalignment. Usually the rim is just thicker on one side and thinner on the other. Sorry for the crappy photo I was too lazy to take it out of the flip. Here is my 1999-D SBA and it is misaligned slightly.
That is why I prefer the designation near date and far date. If the obv die is misaligned toward 6:00 (and it does happen) you can have a "wide rim" with a very thin rim. Or if it misaligns toward 12:00 you can have "narrow rim" with a very wide rim.
I have a 1979 Susan B Anthony that seems to have some kind of error on the u and the United States but I can't figure out how to upload a photo of it does anybody have an email address that I can shoot them the pictures so they can tell me if it is actually or not
