Lol Those were some great threads!

He nominated all his threads for TOTW awards. And then the one time he said "I would like to thank everyone who nominated my thread for thread of the week", and he was the only one who nominated it. :D

That was one of the funniest things I ever saw.

say since this thread is about 16-d i was at a local flea market (7 Mile Fair) and a guy with some cheap lincolns had a AG3 slabbed one in the corner of his box. i asked him how much "550". i said "5.50?". no "550$". yea id like to see the amount of people running around with 550$ for key date coins at some flea market. almost had bargain of the year!

From a few pages back, but got a chuckle from this. I know that the deceased's family members can be a problem but are we talking about a case of haunting here? :)

Rare coins dropped into Salvation kettles

    Denver, 12.10.2009
"McKinney said a 1902 $20 Liberty gold coin, was dropped Dec. 3 in a Salvation Army kettle at a Sam's Club and another gold coin was dropped into a kettle Monday outside the Pavilions Corner Bakery. He said the third coin, a 1979 South African Krugerrand, was dropped Tuesday into the same kettle at the Corner Bakery."

That's so cool. Wish I had the dough to do something like that. Till then I'll just be content to drop my nickles, dimes, and quarters into these kettles....:)

    "especially the elderly..."

Genuine £1 coins being binned after alert over fakes

"Confusion over fake currency is leading some members of the public to throw genuine pound coins into the bin, it has been claimed."

"A warning was issued by police recently urging people to beware of fake coins that do not have a ring of dots normally found around the circumference of the £1 coin."

“A lot of people, especially the elderly, have no way of knowing and will just throw good money away.” -The Belfast Telegraph
