https://www.nytimes.com/2021/05/09/us/quarters-maya-angelou-sally-ride.html Just my $0.02 worth. Feel free to disagree. It's a free country.
I also see that they may continue to make more of rhe morgan dollar tributes after this years releases by continuing them next year.i think they will be watered down by doing that.
Nothing newsworthy to me. Once the state quarters program started in 1999 and moved on to national parks, the writing was on the wall that the quarter will be the denomination of choice to represent something/someone in circulating coinage.
Don't blame the Mint, blame Congress who directed the Mint to issue these coins! I worked for the IRS for 32 years and we never made a tax law, just administered the stuff that came out of Congress! (Don't Kill The Messenger!)
I'm kind of tired of the "quarter-of-the-month club", but I'm also tired of the 112-year old Lincoln cent, the 83-year-old Jefferson nickel, the 75-year-old Roosevelt dime, and even the 57-year-old Kennedy half. There's got to be a happy medium somewhere.
I simply do not know why those two are the first two women honored. I am not sure they would make my top 40 US women who should be honored.
To that end, legislation concerning the U.S. Mint, among other things, is used to pad legislative resumes with bipartisan votes. For instance, H.R. 1923 passed without objection in the House of Representatives and the United States Senate.
The only way women can break the neck of government is to cross their legs, simple as that! My opinion only!
I really don't want them to change these designs because I am afraid of what they would change them to. They don't have much of a track record of late that would inspire confidence that a change would be an improvement.
