Two Probus antoninianii, small bronze, fibula..And very interesting early bronze grinding stone, cube shaped, 5x5 cm...
Neat group. Never seen a bronze grinding stone before or just never paid attention during antique listings on VC or Berk.
No kidding?! @galba68 is a good dude. I'm new to all this, and he contacted me privately, explaining that while he does metal detect, he finds the ancients the old fashioned way, with his eyes, and in Serbia! Thanks again.
Hi Mat..It is made of stone,it lay on the surface, so that it was easy to see it.. Eyes-only tehnique I only use in the fields after the rain, looking for flint scrapers, flint arrowheads, stone axe hammers, etc..
LOL. Me too! Someday in my travels, I might just come visit your fields and watch your magic! As always, I really enjoy your finds and your posts... good luck finding more.
Just because I'm stuck in semantics mode, @galba68, I presume you meant it's a Bronze Age grinding stone --um, right?
Would be cool to see some of your stone age arrowheads or other chert tools as well some time. Always look forward to the posts of your finds... reminds me of my own searching days in Europe long ago...
