Due to my affliction of wanting to own every 1963 proof set I come across, I found three on that one site I couldn't resist because the price was right. To my surprise, in each one of these I noticed that they all had what I've concluded are DDR-009 proof Lincolns. If only the motto were more doubled and a little more spread on the devices, I could have caught the big one. I'm curious to hear back on your all's thoughts if my attribution is correct. There were no markers listed in VV, so I went with just the details.
Yes, that looks like DDR-009 to me. There are a lot of proof 63 DDRs, and they are all fairly similar. The easy diagnostic on this one seems to be the designer's initials.
And from a non-error/variety collector, what is "the big one"...? Something like the dramatic '55 DDO...or...??? Thx.
The DDR-006 for this year which is the only FS recognized one. Just a big one for the year, not the holy grail like the 69 or 55.
That's a DDR? Oh Lord, help us, for we're losing our way. But yeah, I see the little serif split at the bottom of the A in STATES. But you know, I hate to ask it, who cares?
@eddiespin ...I agree with one caveat: many members have never found a minor doubled die variety, and the minor ones are their best chance for doing so...Spark
If that's all you see, you're looking in the wrong places. Almost every device except the motto shows a nice spread. I get it, you're not a fan, but geez, nothing positive to say, why bother replying?
